I know it's not what you want to hear, but the justice system over here is a piss take too.
You might go to court with the DVLA, but where is the proof you had SORNed the car.
One way of proof nowadays is on their website, which is how I do it know, you get instant confirmation back when they recieve the email, all you do is print it out.
If this is what you have done, then you have a good case of compensation

I would like to think you are wrong. You cant just come and take a car when its completely legal with all the documentation. I scanned my SORN paperwork before I mailed it which is proof, I have a current MOT, and I have proof of insurance. But it doesn't matter now, all it takes is a little motivation, some phone calls and persuasion to get it back. I am very happy to say that my car is now back in my possession!! :D :D

The car wasn't on the borbets because I jsut had them redone, but I did have my true coilovers in the trunk, a simple system set-up, ALL of my tools, random parts etc. etc. in it.

If you'd said you had scanned the SORN declaration before I wouldn't have been so negative about the situation.
But at least the news is good and that you now have the car back in you possesion.
By the looks of it, you need a rear pop out to replace the one they have smashed.
