i drive my '90 325iA from williamsburg to DC in 2 hours. So thats about 3,500-4,000 constant rpm the entire trip without any issues. The fuel pump does get a little noisy when it gets hot though...

basically, if you have all the maintenance taken care of and stop every once in a while you'll be fine. bring coolant, oil, ATF, and tools.

I used to drive my 325iA on monthly trips from New Orleans to Houston, Drove it from DC to Buffalo, and DC to Northern Vermont. Never had any real issues on the drive themselves.

My e30 had 300k+ miles and I average 80-85mph on the highway. you should be fine, just make sure you have the basics with you and you do a really good tuneup before you leave. Also, I highly recommend going to Autozone or Advanced and picking up a bottle of Slick50 High Mileage Engine treatment. Put it in after an oil change, it makes a world of difference. I don't go on a long drive without it!

You will make it. Make sure your vitals are good, bring fluids, tools and lots of beef jerky. Brooklyn to Hanover NH and back in one day 600+ miles and no issues.

I'm hoping to do the reverse drive but even longer and am putting little faith in my car haha. But it will be a journey!

I just changed oil, air filter(was due), checked all levels, got the car up on a lift and eyeballed everything underneath. made it the entire way from socal to seattle no hiccups

              Well said lance, well said.

I'll have to create a check list haha, I'm thinking San Diego, I've been to Oregon/Washington quite a few times.

Oregon/Washington has a lot more to offer, and I like the drive a lot more, but I'm just going for a little R&R - parties, beer, girls, SET.

I make the drive from Vacaville to Tacoma every year, this year will be the 4th time with the 3rd e30. Everytime it handles it fine.

Awesome- Very good to know. So you're going to the picnic? Caravanning with anyone from the Bay Area/So Cal?
