How I checked it was I parked the car, unlocked the steering and twisted it back and forth. There should be no popping, binding, or unequal movement on both sides of the joint.
Ma che cazzo state dicendo? :|

7 out of 10 on an annoying scale, but mainly at low speeds. rattle = noise

What do you mean by unlocked the steering? Taking the steering wheel off? Or leaving the key on on? And what did you twist? The steering wheel? or the u joint?

Put the key in and unlock the wheel and have someone turn the steering wheel while you inspect the joints. I would assume the tires would have to be on the ground though so that they dont turn and that the only movement is in the joints..

edit: I think thats what he means.

I just did this. The steering had no popping or binding or unequal movement. It seemed pretty much normal... I am no mechanic, but it seeems normal and sturdy. Moves at the same pace as the steering wheel.

When I twist the u joint while the steering is locked. Should it move at all? Mine moves VERY little. But I think it is normal because all steering wheels even when they are locked. Correct me if I am wrong?

Here's a pic of my joint from a 90 airbag car. Turns out this is part number 32311156348 Swivel Joint. Now I have to try and get Pelican to exchange the other part they sent me for the correct one. Handn't seen a pic of this joint in previous posts.
