IIRC you also need they key in to get the wheel off.

Im guessing its not my steering wheel anymore. I checked my tie rods today. Are the tie rods suppose to move at all? I grabbed it and twisted it a little. Is it suppose to turn/twist at all?

No play in the tie rod.

Its most likely your U joint as someone else brought out. I've replaced two of them on different cars. Kinda a bitch.

Tie rods can move (twist) but should not have any play when going out and in. Grab a tie rod and pull and push on it in the direction of the steering rack and there should be no forwards/back play where it connects to the knuckle (or at all).

I did a search but can not find anything more specific. Can you point me towards a link that may help me diagnose this?

Where is the u joint located? Sorry totally a noob at this. How bad is the shaking?

I have been working on a similar problem. The lower steering joint assembly on my car is bad. If you crawl under the car and grab it and shake it if it wobbles it's bad. It sits on top of the steering rack and connects to the steering column. I ordered a new one from Pelican, but the wrong one came. Real OEM list two part as the same part number 32311157214. See diagram for #1 and #11. I received #1 which I think is for an 89 and earlier non-airbag model. My car is a 90 with airbag and mine looks like #11. Working with Pelican to try to exchange it.

Just saw the video which shows movement in the rubber bushing part #3. The new assembly is solid with no movement. My problem is at the lower U joint where it connects to the rack. This joint is shot, so only when going straight going over bumps the steering rattles. Otherwise the car drives fine and the noise is not noticeable when the steering is in a turned position.

Cabbe30 - What year car is that in the video?

Is it suppose to wobble at all? I will check this out tomorrow. Is it easily reachable?
