Run a carfax. While the price maybe cheap he did not state where he is from. They may hold a lower resale value in the area due to maybe no Dealer to work on it, etc etc.
Have it inspected by a reputeable shop and split the differance with the shop if he wants the sale he'll buy off on it. It should give you a piece of mind and help him with the sale.Comment

Yahoo groups has a pretty good forum for those. Not sure what the address is but its worth a search on their site to find it. I'm sure anyone there would be willing to get you the info you need.
