what tools to use?

i'm having a hard time putting the snap ring(#6) back on its place. the spring is too hard to be compress by hand. is there any specific tools to use?

i don't have a problem with the snap ring itself but the spring...it's too hard to be compress by hand..

Large flat head screwdriver works, just make sure it is flat against the column, otherwise you'll screw up the spline.

YAY! I have not dealt with that spring myself, but generally I use a couple of wire ties to compress a spring like that, just make sure you can clip them and remove them when it is time.

i used a big spacer made out of some 3/4 copper pipe with a couple washers that fit around the column tightly and just tightened it down with the nut and slipped the clip on, worked like a charm
