So I'm wondering if all these Z3 reman racks out there are all the 2.7 lock to lock linerar style or they mixing them up with other e36 racks and calling them all the same. Just a tad bit confused and want to order the correct one from my supplier, which could not help with that answer. Thanks in advance.
yep, there's different ones, you have to make sure you ask for the 2.75 lock to lock ratio. and when you get it, it helps to check it manually. Mine went to turns and 3/4 stopped right at about 10 o'clock so almost 2 turns but not quite. (counting turns going clockwise)

another noob dumbass question coming up....

when installing the new tie rod ends on the z3 rack (e36 tie rod ends going on z3 inners), when they say right and left do they mean looking at the car head on? (driver's side right, passenger side left)

or left and right sitting behind the wheel? (driver's side left, passenger's side right)

I over thought it and now I'm mixed up. thanks again!

Id say left and right sitting behind the wheel. Make sure those lockring/washers are nice and snug.

            mine didn't come with piece 9 or 10 :(

They misunderstood me and gave me these large washer looking things which I'm assuming is what secures the innners in.

To all you noobs saying that there are different Z3 racks: yes there are but the only difference is Z3M vs. Z3 non-M the non-M is 2.7 LTL whereas the Z3M is the same as all the other regular e36 racks.

                That's it that's all.

Thanks that is the answer I was looking for. I figured as much, but I wanted someone to confirm what I had thought before I placed a order for a rack that would cost me to return.

That is how it should be, technically, but some regular Z3s have had the MZ3 rack (a rude awakening after pulling a Z3 rack at a junkyard). And I have heard of some people getting the MZ3 rack in place of the regular Z3 rack when ordering off certain sites. I would call, explain the situation and confirm the part number before ordering.

yes, and if you ask they should be able to confirm it's a linear 2.75 lock to lock steering rack.

Done! I also ordered the AKG kit, it looked clean and for $20 I figured i couldn't go wrong.

Is a remanufactured z3 rack for $175 shipped, cheap?

Sort of. Depends on what Z3 rack we're talking about, really. Some guys like to charge $200-$300 for an E36 M3 rack. So... it's sort of a good deal. But really just relative to what you end up with.
                              Need a part? PM me.
