It's still hard to look at pics of me driving it and remembering the trips I took in it.

I knew a better one would come along for me too buy though.
they are plentiful for there is alays a replacement.

Sentimental. Gone through a lot with this car, knowing that however much money I sell it for, if I do, would never compensate for all the hours I spent on it. Its been a ride though, and that's why I like these cars. Hopefully this thing lasts forever!

Just sold mine to my ex. I feel like it was the biggest mistake I have made. I still love baby too much to see her driven like an idiot. My first mistake was selling her to him because in time I know she will be completely covered in spray paint. The process has already begun and it is only the 2nd week. She was the first e30 I had ever owned, and the first 5spd. I have an e92 now, but there is just no comparison. I will always be attached.

          Sentimental... both. 95% sentimental though!!

Ive been hooked since 7 years old, my grandfather use to own a 79 320i back in Uruguay, man i loved to ride with him, when he pased away my dad became the new owner of the car, then he sold it before coming to miami.
I fucking love my e30 now, would be hard to sell it after all i had learn with this car, plus all the money i spent on her and countless hours of work..
          no more boosted m20, 91 318i...

            My pops bought it new

drove it around europe then shipped it down to the US.

(zender wing was a factory mod)

Was out in Tennessee for a while

            Then dragged out to cali

where it chilled & has been riding dirty since

fyi i was the last to drive this car in my family. Fresh out of high school.

This car has taken me to school since pre-k, been through all my ex gf's, road trips, hot boxed, fender bender

been slowly bringing her back to her old glory

has been a fun journey & will probably pass her down to my kids..

must have been fate. even when i got my license the first numbers were e30..

Sentimental. A lot more than just metal. The platform by which all others are compared.

My Dad has been a huge inspiration for me. He is almost 65 and still modding euro's like a madman!

I was also hooked from a young age although it was a 6er at first when Dad built this car. The before is the actual car.

It ended up lower, just havent got around to scanning the old pics of it.
For mid 80's in Australia, it was not a head turner, it was a brain snapper. I can remember driving through the City in Melbourne and there were more people looking at it than not.

That was sold to fund a Turbo 190E, the before isnt the actual car but looked identical, stock as a rock

                      Then the E30s started,

First one was a 323i auto.

                      318i auto Turbo

318i manual Turbo. This one with the turbo kit added FLEW. Shattered many a 325is owner in its day along with alot of local V8s.

After that came a 4 door version of that car in blue. Another 318i manual with turbo kit fitted but this time Zender kit and wheels.

And that was it for the 80s. Recession hit and the Mercs and BMWs were all sold.

The 90s saw an update 318i manual with Breyton it, 17inch intras and suspension but those first 4 had a huge impact on me.

I have 7,800 in my current build and it is not running yet. I still love it and will not part ways with it EVER. Just the other day my friend came home in his e46 M3 and made fun of my e30. How it is old and I have to build it.

I told him straight up, you are not part of you car till you build it from the ground up. Buying a car means nothing, building your car is everything. Adding tint is not the same as rebuilding the motor and installing bigger cams. Or a one off custom suspension with polly bushing everywhere. Or making your own set of wheels, while sourcing the needs lips and such that are no longer made.

It is not the money involved that makes your car alive, it is the back breaking sweaty brow, tool throwing and blood spilled effort that makes it YOURS.

It broke my heart to sell my last DD, so it was sold to my parents =) I junked out my first e30 and it makes me tear up still. I loved that car so much, ment the world to me!

I could not agree more. I have quite literally years of pain, joy, frustration, hilarity, rage, fun, agony, and WINNING into this car. Shit I've installed and removed a dozen times in a day, and am so good at I can do in half an hour (drop and reinstall a driveshaft, for instance).

I can look at pretty much any fastener on this car and know what size it is. I know that you can pull apart almost this entire car with phillips screwdrivers, an 8, 10, 13, 14, 17, 18 and 19mm wrench and the same sockets, and maybe a 22 or a 23 here or there. I know about how long it takes to do pretty much any job on it. I know which things are going to be a BITCH to fix and which things are dead simple.

There is NO substitute for that, no price I can put on it. I can look at any repair or modification I've done, and remember when I did it, who I was with, and remember how much of a bitch it was, but how much fun it was doing it with the friends that were there to help. If that isn't the meaning of sentimental, I don't know what is.

I remember someone else doing that on their car, I think it was Eric Lukas.
