I drink. A lot. But I make sure I am somewhere I will not be leaving for a while, i.e. overnight. Either that or make friends with HS seniors who are not old enough to drink, then make them drive you everywhere. 17y/o work great 'cause you can flip 'em a pack of cigs for the favor.

My friend got pulled over and the cops found weed in his car. They ended up letting him go and he was super high. Personally I think it is bs. The way he drives high is worse then he drives drunk. He claimed he had a medical card, but still driving high or drunk is stupid.

Cops here don't waste their time if the driver is driving high.
Three times I've been in the car as a passenger while the driver was high as balls and was pulled over for a tail light violation or a stupid reg sticker and sure enough, the cop found out and only made me drive and let the high driver sit as a passenger. Three separate occasions, three different cops, 2 different counties.

It's a waste of damn time and has no weight in the superior court of california. They have bigger shit to deal with.

I guess my point is, don't smoke and drive. The last thing you want is a car full of dead children because you got amazed by how the telephone poles are perfectly aligned. It may never happen. But its not worth the risk.

YES YOU CAN GET A DUI! I too thought it was a myth or you could just "talk your way out of it" as many of us have previously done. But I saw it happen, in person, two days ago.

Funny this topic came up. I've been in San Diego the past week on vacation, and my buddy got a DUI two nights ago for smoking and driving. We smoked a blunt, drove to jack in the box, got our Oreo Milkshakes and got pulled over.

Cop asked about the weed smell, I showed him my card, papers and all the weed I had on me. He basically said "alright, well this guys invincible" and set me aside. He then pulled out my buddy driving, gave him a field sobriety test, said he was intoxicated and arrested him for DUI.

I asked one of the officers if this had the same consequences as an "alcohol dui" and he said there is absolutely no difference. Driving under the influence is driving under the influence and you will be arrested.

Two days later he got 21 pieces of mail from lawyers offering to represent him. Lol, gotta love public records.
