    how to remove exhaust?

i need to remove the rear end of the exhaust and the drive shaft to get the fuel tank off.
how the heck am i supposed to do this? i removed the clamp holding the rear section to the front section. it basically just disintegrated, it was so rusty. but there's 3 more places where the rear is hanging from the car. i cannot figure out how to get the rest off.
    please help!

It's held on to the car on each side of the muffler with a rubber 'donut.' That basically just stretches until you can remove the muffler from it's mounts. There's another similar donut closer to the middle of the car. Use a screwdriver to help lift the donut up over the tab that holds it itno place.

    Good luck!

or you can unbolt the straps that wrap around the muffler so you don't have to deal with stretching those stupid donuts. 13mm nuts two on the muffler one on the subframe.

A combination of the above mentioned methods.

No straps on my muffler...just welded-on mounts...

there's 4 mounting points for the rear section. 2 donuts, 1 bushing like thing, and the clamp to the front section.
i have removed all except the bushing thing. i can't figure out how to get it out. it looks kinda like it would slide out but i couldn't seem to get it out. it's bent at too much of an angle. here's pics of what i'm talking about:

Try bending it a little to help the angle, it should slide out maybe try some WD40 on it so it can slide. When reinstalling bend it back to how it looks now i guess

Threads like this one are the reason I spend so much more time on r3v than bimmerforums... if you don't feel like cutting it, try putting a jack under part of the exhaust and then remove the hangers... makes it allot easier... unbolt it from the headers and your good.
