To anyone with a strut bar

I'm running an I manifold and a IE strut bar, the manifold is hitting the strut bar and it's super loud. Guessing it has something to do with my tranny mounts or engine mounts? Any help would be nice...

i think there is a difference in bars. i think they have 2 sizes. check with them

might want to check your mounts either way since they are important

Sounds like you have a broken motor mount. If you had an early car the alt would have chewed through the lower rad hose. I have an IE strut bar and it is no where near the intake.

I have about 5mm between my intake manifold and IE bar with brand new engine mounts. I was worried that it would rub when the engine moved around, but with new mounts the engine doesn't move hardly at all.

              Poop.

I tried fitting a razor blade between the intake manifold and the strut, wouldn't even come close to fitting... when I start it I just clanks around. Anyways, maybe I should look into urethane mounts? Anyone have a recommendation?

Thanks for all the help guys...

You can hear in this video the clanking sound at the beginning...

If I were you, I would run longer strut mount studs and use a 3/16" steel plate as a riser for the strut brace. Changing engine mounts changes your driveshaft angle and shift linkage angle. Perhaps not enough to mess things up, but it would sure suck if it did.

OR, you can remove the brace and flatten the tubing where it rubs.

Why do you need urethane mounts? Put some OEM style Meyle mounts in there and call it good. It shouldn't be hitting, the bar was designed for M20 cars.

did you replace the mounts when you did the engine? or are they old?
