surfboard pads with a thule fairing?

Summers here and I wanna get some of those rack pads to haul my surfboard to the beach on my e30. I have square bar thule racks so wrapping pads around them is no prob but my gf just bought me a thule fairing and the way it clamps to the load bar prevents me from wrapping a surfboard pad around.

Thule doesn't have anything on their site, so does anyone know of some other maker that has smaller sections of pad or am I forced to cut them into sections?

Sorry no pic.. im on my droid and the attachments option doesn't work

I use those pool noodle toys, you see them all over at grocery stores and such in the summer...cut a slit in them and wrap around bars...works great. I am hailing kayaks and canoes instead of surf boards.
