    No neutral safety switch?!?

Car is an 86' 325e. Was auto until i converted to a 5spd. There isnt a neutral safety switch on the car though. I have a green/white wire, green/black wire, and a blue/white wire. Other than that, theres no plug that i can cut and splice into. Also, on the opposite of the auto shifter, there is a brown wire and another green/black wire.

Everything is so confusing and I've been stuck on this for a while now. I've searched everything and can't find any info relating to my situation!! I looked at yoshi's writeup and still has wondering.

Any input will be appreciated!! Thanks guys!

There isnt one. My Eta is factory 5 speed, and I can start it in gear, with the clutch out.

IIRC the green/black and brown wires were for the light on the auto shifter. there is no such animal on a 5 speed. the reverse light plug should be there for you to just plug in.
I saved 15% on my Bimmer parts by switching to ...

yoshi's write up has an image made in paint that shows what wires to splice together. its very easy.
if the wires are spliced correctly the car should start, clutch does not need to be depressed.

my point exactly, yoshi's writeup has nothing to do with what im asking. His shows wires that my car doesn't have, which clearly makes it difficult for me to complete.

            Grab a multimeter
Put the auto shifter in park

Find out what two wire have zero resistance, or make a tone.
connect those two wires on your car.
            done

                Way to go....

Find a 12 v signal. Run a wire from it. Or grab it straight from the battery.
Put a 2.5 amp fuse inline

Start touching wires with the 12v signal while attempting to crank. When it cranks, you know what wire you need getting a 12v signal. If you pop the fuse, don't touch that one again. Unless it pops when cranking. Then you just know you have the right wire with too small a fuse (The fuse is purely to prevent damaging anything else.)

If you really find this task confusing, and are willing to run a hotwire directly to the starter.

I refuse to help you any more. This is a ten minute job. at most

Seems pretty easy and quick to me. Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes.

You dont have to splice anything, Isnt there some connectors you connect and or disconnect under the column, since all e30s were set up for manual trans, and the autos were sorta an add-on?

I forget what the wires are, do a search on it. I had a problem with my swap, the car wouldnt start, and I found the post about swapping wires and she fired right up
