I'd want to evaluate the chassis using computer modeling and see where flex can be reduced, and more where energy absorbing structures in the front and rear can be redesigned to make the car slightly more safe, but not add much weight. I'd leave the trailing arm rear suspension design.

Doors that came stock manual crank, wheel lugs/studs instead of wheel lug bolts, and this is just a personal preference a gas door on the back of the car somewhere cool but impossible like behind the bmw roundrel
