Two-piece Trailing Arm Bushing Install: Need help...!

As you see my method from the pictures, I cannot stop the outside from pushing out once I hammer the metal sleeve through. I've tried pressing both sides in at the same time only to have both popping out when done. It's getting to the point where I may damage the bushings to no use. Air pressure is building up and pushing it out and I have no idea how to stop it. What am I doing wrong....?

I can't remember how I did mine now.... But i didn't use a press or any air tools-

Iirc I think I slipped both ends in then drove the metal bushing through the 75D bushings...

dude the more I look at it, I just get the feeling the Bushings weren't machined enough. I'm really getting pissed. If they get destroyed, I'm calling AKG and ordering a set from them. This is bull shit.

tried lubing the bushing? I've never had this problem and never used any tools installing urethane TABs.

Lencas Povilas. He sells all sorts of bushings on here. These are the only bushings I've had an issue with from him. the subframe and control arm bushings fit like a glove but they're solid Ertalon. these are 75sh.

Edit: ^ yep. I douched em in wd-40 and it just made the issue worse.

I'm so fucking pissed. I just spent 6 hrs pulling the rear end and disassembled everything to rebuild... this is the only thing keeping me from driving to work tomorrow. and there's no point in ordering another set... he's across the pond. it'll take 4-6 weeks for another set to arrive.

take everthing to a machine shop. i did with my CAB and they made me a tool for it. cost me 40$ and i got to keep the tool.

btw, they had a 50ton press in there and they decided to use PIPE CLAMPS to press my bushings in.

also, spray it all with SILCON spray. trust, it is 10x better than WD40.

if i understand you correctly, you can get the bushings to go in but they wont both stay seated because of air pressure? If that is true you just need to give the air a place to exit. Is your squeezing tool flat on each end causing a seal? Can you drill a hole in it ? You could also grind a small groove length wise down the OD of the bushing to let air get out. Any lubricant will make the bushing seal more than a dry bush. Good luck !

Have you tried pressing the bushes in without the inner metal sleeve and then pressing the sleeve in after?

thats how I did it the first time with no success. as soon as the sleeve met the second half, one of the sides would start pushing out.
