How often are you really going to track the car?

I'd think running sport seats day-to-day, then swapping in roll bar/fixed back/harnesses would be a better solution.

Yeah, a hassle for an HPDE, but again, how often will you REALLY take the car to track days.

Looking for another option that can still look very sport but comfortable at the same time. In the future I'm definitely looking for a different seat, just wanted to see what options were out there.

mz3 seats would fit your bill awesomely. they have nice tight bolsters on the bottom to keep your ass from sliding, and they will recline a bit. they do not fold forward, but who cares if you don't use your back seat? they are 10x more comfortable than e30 sport seats. they are like an orgasm for your ass(but not like that) ;) they are not cheap though. a really nice pair can set you back 6-900 bucks or more.

z3m coupe seats should fit the bill for folding forwards, yeah?

here is an ebay auction for an mz3 seat that is unfortunately, blue/black. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/96-02...item3a6528ee37 my seats look exactly like this but they are all black. i have also had a set that were grey in the areas this one is blue. they look good too. bmw also made these seats in red/black. i know of a guy in houston that has a set of all black seats. his prices are pretty decent but he is a bit of a tool. he may or may not ship. let me know if you are interested, and i will pm you his number.

when i get some extra discretionary income saved, i am going to get the rear seat reupholstered to match.

I've been looking at corbeau gts IIs but I know very little about them. They look a lot like a less expensive, moderately worse recaro s line seat.

i have had a couple of wrecked roady's which are obviously 2 seaters, but i am pretty sure m coupes are 2 seaters as well. if thats the case, then they won't fold forward either.

It's a little silly to single out the Recaro SRD as being more likely to collapse in an impact compared to a "stock" Recaro. After all the SRD was the stock seat in many applications, including the E30 M3 Evo III, Lancer Evolution I-III, Integra Type R, and quite a few other sports cars. It's TUV approved and, like all Recaros, is one of the strongest and safest seats money can buy.

Any reclining seat can collapse. If you want to run one with a roll bar, don't bother looking for one "that won't fail" since such a thing does not exist. All you need to do is add a simple seat-back brace. A brace s a good idea with fixed-back race buckets, too.
