    Side Swiped on Highway

So I was driving along on the highway today and was in the left lane, I was starting to pass a semi and noticed a jeep flying up to my rear and so I started accelerating, got the nice wobble and had just passed the semi and was preparing to get back into the right lane in front of the semi to let the jeep pass because he was clearly in a hurry. I was checking my mirrors to make sure there was no one there before I moved over and saw the jeep fly into the right lane so I decided to wait for him to pass. He flew past me at about 75-80 mph and for some god forsaken reason cut in early, putting his rear tire into the front of my car and pushed me a good two feet towards the concrete barrier. Mind you his car was a big 2001 jeep, he proceeded to fly away, I got his plates and started following him to see if I could get an address, he stopped at a best buy and I pulled next to him and asked him what he was thinking, he responded with a bunch of swearing and saying how he should beat me up, I was pissed and didn't want any physical confrontation with the guy so I just left and went home to chill out a bit. Went to the police station later and talked to a friends dad who turns out to be a cop, they found that he called in the hit so he couldn't get pegged with a hit and run, but so far have given him an improper lane use (?) which ended up in a 500$ fine and 3 points off his license. Do you think that I should try to get some insurance money to fix the car? It did rub all the paint off, that is a combination of rubber and bumper plastic.

Police, then insurance. The two calls I would have made first. Police even before confronting him. He was in the wrong, but that is an easy way to get your ass beat, or a weapon at least pulled on you if not used. You should have followed and notified police when and where he stopped. You are lucky in that regard.

Now sort it with your insurance. Shouldnt be out a dime if he is even insured.

Yup, getting fix quotes tomorrow, police already did most of their part.

sucks man, it wouldn't be surprising if he was under the influence of something or had something in his car that he didn't want police to find out about. I have heard of people that crashed while drunk, then fled because that would give them some time to sober up before dealing with police and the hit and run ticket isn't as harsh as a DUI.

For sure, you never fuck with people in cars. The guy coulda pulled a desert magnum revolver out and BOOM, headshot. Day ruined.

                      Yeah dude this a no-brainer.
You have so many potential arguments on your side that it's almost funny.
Threatened to beat you up? Hit and run? This fool's toast.

Improper lane use is passing on the right hand side. Sorry to hear about it, seems like a lot of E30s have been getting hit lately.
