    Broken down frankfurt

Hey so my car decided it doesn't want to start. It is turning over but not catching. What do?

Take the back seat out and bang the fuel pump. Sometimes you don't have to take it out, just hit it on top.
If that does help, don't turn the engine off until you get home.
Second option - hardwire the fuel pump relay. I can't remember if it was # 85 to 86, someone will correct me.

Thanks man, I'll try it in the morning. I ended up walking to a place to stay for the night. Hopefully it works... It's a wagon, if that makes a difference.

Air force out of ramstein. I might have to check out that forum if it's not the fuel pump.

Ok after a little searching I see that I have had all the problems to indicate a faulty cps. ie bad idle, random power loss, random.shaking. Where is it on the e30 and how hard is it to replace?

On the lower front of the engine. It reads off the toothed crank pulley. Sometimes that wire frays at the base and breaks off. Also happened in my e36. Died on the highway out of no where one day.

Awesome. Hopefully I can get to it without tools. Fml.

Well after removing some coolant hoses you'll need a 3/4 mm hex key to remove it.

Fuel pump isn't buzzing. That's probably the problem.

They quoted me 215 euro for a new fuel pump, so I learned real quick where the auto recycling center and pulled one for 10 usd. Hope it works.
