    e28 parts in e30?

What can be transferred from an e28 to an e30?
There is a e28 local to me that the owner said he would sell for 500$ and I'm wondering if there is any parts I could use off it. The exterior is pretty beat and has some rust so it would be parted out. Its an 533i, 5speed, with red leather interior. The main things I'm interested in are the engine and the interior, is the 533i engine a worthy candidate for an m30 swap? And would the leather seats fit in an e30?
    Thanks

The diff is interchangeable if you use the diff cover off an e30 diff and switch out the flanges. I have a 3.25S from an E28 in my car and it works like a charm.

Not much, engine and tranny if used together. Diff.

There are better M30 engines out there, but for the right price/mileage, why not?

Depending on the build date, it could have the 15lb flywheel, or not. (Probably, IMO, the best thing to get off a 533.)

Probably has the G260/5 trans, which is, IMO a piece of shit. Can't hold an M5 clutch.

Front seats, probably not. They are wider than e30 seats. People put e30 seats in e28s, and the brackets are different, so custom ones have to be bought/made, but I still think they are wider than e30 seats....

            Rear seat...no.

            Suspension stuffs...no.

            Electronics, mostly.

            Diff, yes, with work.

Which m30 engine is a better option? Ive been thinking about possibly swapping in the future..

Hmm I wonder how much work would be involved in getting the seats to fit, if at all.. My interior is pretty tore up currently and I would love to find a cheap replacement.

                  Best is the M30B35.

                  Second best is the M30B34.

Both are good, but B35 is the best, best, M30, IMO. I swapped my e28 from a B34 to a B35 and it was worth it.

M5 clutch is just an OEM upgrade. Nothing really to special about it. Just one of those things that's still OEM, but better than stock. Stock M30 clutch had to hold 208hp tops from a stock B35 engine. Stock M5 had to hold 260hp. The flywheel is just lighter. 15lbs vs 26lbs. Early 533 FW and M5 FW are the exact same.

I'm running a B35 with M5 clutch and FW with G260/6 trans and couldn't be happier with a relatively OEM parts setup.

best m30 depends on your plans, b34 with b35 cam and intake mani is best for boost (lower compression.) b35 is better n/a power. That said, I'm running a b35 and getting ready to boost it...

B35 w/boost will ALWAYS be better than B34 with same amount of boost.

I am a B35 convert. I was into building an old school HC B34 engine, but got my hands on a B35 and away we go....

There are more than a few people that will disagree with you on that one, including Paul Burke. Otis also seems to pretty well with the "lesser" B34 !!

euro B35 bottom end with a B34 head ported/polished is the best m30 combo.

lower compression is much better for boost. That's a given.
