    wierd car story(my car)

Insight before story 85degrees,4:30pm, just got back from driving to the store for 10mins.

Ok like i said i drove to the store which took me 5mins to get there and another 5 to get home. I get to my drive way and i park my car on the curb and go into my garage to get my jackstands and jack and some tools so i can change my o2 sensor. I start my car up to back it up a little and all of a sudden the car starts burbling like a subaru boxer engine and the car idles like shit and has no power :? , so im like WTF so i drive it around the block and it only makes the sound before AND after 3k rpms so i park infront of my house change the o2 sensor and start the car up and it still does the same. This morning i thought the timing was off or the injsectors where dirty so i got my trusty Hanes/Bentley manuals and get ready to get dirty. I start my car up to back it out a little and there is no wierd subaru boxer engine sound coming form the car so i let it warm up drive it around the block and everything runs fine and the engine pulls hard and the idle is steady. :?:

I have found that problems that fix themselves come back 10 times worse the next time.

can u even rev the motor when its having this mystery problem? my car gets this funky idle problem every so often for no reason, and i have to reset my battery to fix it, i know it has to be electrical. but with mine it becomes all but undriveable.

did you check for any air leak or loose sparkplug wires? sometimes its the simple things people overlook and just jump to more complicated conclusions.

Is your cat clogged? My car had very similar problems when the cat went.

no air leak or loose spark wires, im not sure if the cat is clogged but it hasnt been changed and the boxer engine has come back to my car again.
I noticed yesterday while i was replacing my o2 sensor that the shield or whatever it is on the cat is a little loose and there are some scrapes not big ones but there is a scrape on the cat and resonator. could that maybe be the problem?

I doubt it. My cats look like a battle ground, and they are fine.

yah, scrapes on yer exhaust wont hurt anything, and as far as a clogged cat, well, if you drive anything like me, nothing is gonna get stuck in the pipes... i say check yer plugs and cap/rotor.

how would one go about checkin for air leaks...cant really LISTEN for them....m20 is a lil too loud for that....
