no, it's smart on their part. they *have* to protect their trademark, or they will lose it.

Does anyone else think the OP is either trolling or just trying to get exposure to his bolt business?

You need to give a much better explanation of the situation than you have.

You can do whatever you want to with the letters that they sent you. Post them up online. You're under no obligation to BMW/the lawyers that sent these to you.

Also lawyers talk a lot of BS to scare people into bending to their will.

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer and your mileage may vary.

We got a nasty letter from them because we had a picture of our shop area on the website. Over the BMW tech's tool box was a BMW roundel flag he'd won while working at the dealer. It wasn't even in the center of the pic, or obviously visible unless you looked real hard.

We also get letters from Porsche from time to time. Last one was because the owner of the shop had a pic of his Cayman S on the homepage of the site.

I'm waiting on BMW to send me a letter about my Roundel tattoo on my arm.....

This happens all the time. BMW NA has a group of people who search around for trademark infringement. They send a really nasty letter, you take the logo off, end of story. You dick around, and you end up like the OP.
You ever notice that Oktoberfest logos don't contain the roundel? That is how serious they are.

If it's for your bolts website in your sig I absolutely see nothing wrong with it.

Your story would really make more sense if you told us what you did wrong.
