    Funny race story.

This has to be one of the funniest "races" I ever ended up in. Though, I used to "race" in my 87 caravan, so maybe this isn't the funniest.

    Anyways.

I was on the highway doing 75 or so, moderate to light traffic, when this honkin big 04 Chevy 2500 quad cab Duramax turbodiesel comes barreling down the fastlane. I speed up a bit, and the game begins. The usual "who can stay ahead of the other person" game, only this guy was hardcore. He was movin that thing like it was a sports car!

What was real funny was every time he got on it and the tranny shifted, big ol puffs of black smoke came billowing out of the big ass tailpipe.

Funny shit - I was impressed by the truck's power and handling. Then again, I drive an eta ;)

hell, its not uncommon to tune those duramaxes to over 500hp. saw one run the 1/4 mile in like 12 sec. pretty impressive. they are tuning the crap out of all the diesels here in germany too. my buddy just bought a new A6 audi with the 3.0 turbo diesel, with the ABT chip, it is supposed to put out over 600nm of tourqe.

Strange, I saw a duramax quad cab 8 foot bed run a low 12 second quarter as well....talk about hilarious...you just don't expect it!

I love those big diesal trucks. It's not uncommon for them to crank out 1000 hp and 1000+ ft/lbs on a stock head and bottom end.

Recently I pulled onto the highway and a new Viper ran up on me, honked 3 times, and expected me to race him. I dunno what the hell he was trying to prove...

I Was doing about 95 on an empty I-75. This Lexus LX 470 blew past me. I jumped on it. It was a MILF sent straight form heaven. She looked at me and kept going :(

Then she slowed and got off the interstate.

My question is how do they think they can stop? I am sure truck tires are not intended for those speeds, so when one blows out... well I suppose that 1000hp will not be of much use then will it?

as far as speed rating goes, the euro models like x5 all have very high speed rated tires. On my truck, for German law, I had to buy load rated tires for my truck, and the size 275/35/20 is very expensive to have the load rating for a C1500 chevy. but with that load rating, the tires are rated for speeds in excess of 300kph--- yeah right, the truck never sees over 85!!! at least I have room to grow.

Do they check them often there? or just during inspection? If they only check at inspection put the tires you want to run on in the mean time. Taht way yyou never wear the expensive ones...

Back when I had my mustang, I was chased by a redneck in a big duramax diesel. It didn't end well.

the german polizei love to stop "MMMMEEEE" all the time, and they make spot checks. I have recieved some really expensive fines over the years. It is amazing what they look for.
a few years ago I was driving my "M10" 316 M techII and they stopped me-- cause my car sounded a little loud. well, they looked under my hood and luckily they didnt notice the 2.7stroker M20, but they did noticew that I cut out the under part of my air cleaner housing-- only because I built a heat shield-- well the ending of that was 2 points on my license and about a 200 euro fine-- about 240 dollars!
                              good times in germany!
