Rebuild it Right (engine building) by GRM

    Who reads GRM?

If you are thinking of, or even have built an engine, you should read this GRM article! It is what you need to know, or what you wished you knew, before building your first engine.

Welcome to the home of Grassroots Motorsports, the hardcore sports car magazine—and your home for car reviews, tips, and road racing news.

    Thought I would share this.
    Cheers!

Do lots of reading! I just finished an m20.
It is a job that requires a careful eye for detail and a strong ability to follow directions. Rebuilding an engine may not be hard work, but it is precise work. Every part that goes into your engine has to be mated squarely with the others. The clearances will be less than a few thousandths of an inch, so there isn’t much room for sloppiness or shortcuts.
      This!!! ^
Take your time!!!! Plan ahead. Try and get second opinions (professional, machinists) on everything that goes in your motor! There were a few parts I bought that looked OK to me but turned out to be crap when checked by Tim at Morgans Speed Shop.

This is a good read. When I disassemble and rebuild an engine, I am so fucking OCD it's insane. Every set of bolts in a ziploc bag, labeled, organized, etc. Which is hilarious because my bedroom hasn't been cleaned since 2006.

^That's not OCD, that's doing it the right way. If your whole life were organized, then it might be OCD.
