Wires caught around steering column and torn, please help

So just as I was putting everything back, and tightening the screws on my knee-bolster panel, I try to turn on my car, and the ignition does not work.
Then I tried to turn the steering wheel, and is wasn't turning right, it felt as if it was getting caught by something.
Took everything off again, noticed that a bunch of wires had gotten wrapped around my steering column and a few torn.
Now, i have the two segments of a blue and brown and blue and black wires torn off, sitting on my floor.
Also, a green and yellow wire has a torn end.
I plugged one of the plugs back together, and the ignition, door chime and start came back to life. However, now my Hazard lights, and turn signals do not work. I have little to no knowledge of the BMW under-dash wiring, so I am calling out to you knowledgeable r3v guys for some help.
    Any help is extremely appreciated.
For reference my car is a 91' 318i m42 car.
I can take pictures of anything requested in the troubleshooting process.

    Thanks again.

No alarm installs or anything that would have altered the original wiring?

Well, the green/yellow one was torn, and I was able to connect a small-to-large connector and get the ignition to work, and the car started. But I disconnected all the visible plugs in order to unwravel, and pin-point the torn wires. However, there are also a lot of scratched wires, so I will need to wrap them up at the certain areas.

Do you guys know how to remove the lower steering column cover, without removing my steering wheel (I have the airbag).

**Also to note: Everything works except for my turn signals. (left/right blinkers)
I cannot for the life of me find another connector in the immediate area with open torn holes.

the problem is that usually wiring diagrams are going to be labeled by different circuits, not by location. start with what works and what doesn't and then look at the schematics for them individually.

4-way flashers and turn signal wiring go hand in hand. check your horn and all other things that would be in that area - door chime, start/run/acc, etc etc.

After that draw yourself up a diagram and put it all together again. YOU GOT THIS, BRO.

I got the signals working again, with these wires still unconnected.
I had shorted fuse #4 at the beginning of the whole ordeal.

One of the wires goes to SRS warning light, so that does not come on anymore (Check panel).
                          Another one..I cannot figure out..

Are they torn out of the sockets? If not why not not follow each end of the wiring and put them back together? Also the bentley manual gives a pretty good layout. I used it for my gauges

Lol by the way, EVERYTHING else is fixed.
I had to use a few non-insulated butt connectors, and electrical tape to cover up bruised wiring, but at the end of the day, everythings good. Also bypassed the green/yellow with a pair of male/female connectors..so that is right alongside its original plug.

But I was CLOSE to disaster. There were a few bits of melted plastic, meaning I had gotten sparks, which COULD have led to fire. Knock on wood, knock on wood.
