    1991 318is or 2011 GTI ?

ahhhhhh i am in the worst pickle !

found a really clean 318is in covina for $4800

    220k
black diamond schwartz (10month old paint job)
Completely redone interior (vinyl seats-non recaros)
everything works on the car, no leaks, it only needs new front bushings because there is a little play on the steering.

Or i can get a loan and purchase a 2011 gti 4dr base manual.

    decisions decisions.

The 4 door GTI is one of the best bang for buck cars there is. The performance/safety/mpg/comfort/useable space, etc. If you've driven both I'm surprised this is even an decision.

Really dude, you came onto R3V a BMW E30 base site to ask this question? I'm pretty sure if you went onto a VW site they'd vote in their favor.

Personally, I'm not a fan of loans and not buying my car straight up, so I'd get the 318is. But if you really want something new and aren't a hands on kind of dude, I'd get the GTI. I say it's all about your budget in the end.

go for the 318is but not for $4800 with 220k on the clock, that's overpriced..

That 318is sounds way overpriced, especially for repainted (reads as: car was wrecked so we covered it in bondo and had it maaco'ed) high mileage car with a non sport interior(they probably stole other goodies at the same time the seats were stolen)

not really a money part being a deciding factor, but for a depreciating asset, it is always better to buy a vehicle that you can afford to pay cash for.

If he already has a solid credit rating sure, otherwise it's a good way to boost your rating.

If money is an issue and you care about depreciating assets, then yes, buy the 318is and don't waste your money on something you can't afford.

new car is always nice, but the payment isnt plus your looking at a four door VW... :\ But is what you want, we aint the ones that have to drive the car everyday so in the end its up to you.
