    FML my car is bleeding

    bleeding coolant :(

I was on my way to my gfs place before going home last night and my car starts to smoke up and overheat. Luckily I made it there with out breaking down but the engine did stutter and stall when I was parallel parking. Long story short I checked the coolant tank saw it was empty, tried to fill the tank, found a massive puddle of coolant. Drove it home and now here I am.

At this point I have no clue exactly where it was but looks to be the hose from the tank to the engine is where the leak is. Hoping its just the hose and nothing major. Wish me luck :(

you have the opportunity of a lifetime!
my car was overheating when i got it, all it needed was a thermostat, but i realized that too late after i blew the HG.
don't take any chances fix whatever it is now, you will regret it if you dont.

For me, it was just the hose that went, no damage to anything else. The scariest thing was when I found out, the bottom of my car had a cloud of steam hovering under it. Good luck.

Good luck man! Might want to replace ALL your hoses at this point. Better to do it now, then have to deal with another one blowing out while you're driving.

If one's old and tired, chances are they ALL are...

Once a week I do a complete bay detail etc. That keeps everything clean and checked over. I used to detail mine for car shows and it helped me find loose grounds and cracking vacuum lines.

So my advice is to spend more time with your engine.

Yea with my finances I cant afford HG issues. But I think I am okay right now. Definitely not driving the e30 as a dd anymore. Luckily I have a my e90 and f10 to fall back on.

Yea the whole reason I cleaned out my garage was to due major engine maintenance. I know I have to replace my oil pan gasket too. Major gunk on the underside. This will help me get some experience and mechanical know how. I'm sad but happy.

Okay i thought about it and since I'm going to have to replace something I might as well replace everything. So can somebody give me input and a list of exactly what i should replace and where I can get most of the parts.

Also since I don't exactly have the money to do an s52 swap like I want, I was thinking of doing a 2.7i conversion. What parts do I need to make my eta into a 2.7i. Is it even worth it to do?

How high did your temp get?

Do a comp. test...if you ran the coolant dry chances are you were in the red.

It did go in the red when I stopped for the night but the next morning I tried filling the tank with coolant and drove about 10 miles just fine without overheating. I can't do a comp test because I made it to my house but i really can't go any further so I think I might as well just do the entire engine maintenance at this point in my garage.

And my car does have over 300k miles.
