Wow, quite the selection. Low mile automatic 6-cyl E30 hardtop, high mile 4-cyl E30 cabrio, and a high mile stick 6-cyl E36 w/ rust. What exactly are you looking for in a car?

I'd go with the E30 325i I guess, based on the low miles. You could always do a 5spd swap later on. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of E30 cabrios or E36's, especially with high miles and rust.

Have you seen these cars in person? When I consider buying different E30s, it usually comes down to the body/paint condition. That's the one thing that you can't easily fix in your own garage. I'd rather buy a car with perfect paint but a blown engine or completely worn out suspension, than a mechanically perfect car with faded, peeling paint and rust everywhere.

I'd never buy a high mileage early model E36, and I wouldn't want a 4 cylinder cabrio either, so I guess the autotragic 325i.

the e30 325i. you can use the money you get from selling the moonroof to do the manual swap.

The only one I haven't seen in person is the E36 as its located down near the cape.
Its been a while since saw the low milage hard top to compare it to the drop top which has very nice paint and looks great. Both e30's are Laguna green.

I sort of take back what I said about cabrio's - a late model Laguna 318ic with "very nice paint" would be really nice. Add a hardtop, and you have a beautiful, practical E30.

Thats what I was thinking..... A hard top would be a must as far as I'm concerned.....

It may only be a 318 but I all ready plan to convert whatever I buy to a S5X in the future.

what do you want it for, ie what purpose? you need to elaborate on your question if you want something other than simple preference based answers.

It needs to be used as a DD and a good platform for everything else.
