Yeah it sucks, but sometimes karma just wants to take some points back. I got pulled over twice in Tacoma the first week and a half I was there and got one ticket. Missing headlights and no proof of registration (in my wallet but was in my trunk). Showed the cop the next day that I fixed my lights and showed him the reg paper and he signed it off. Went to the court window to expunge it and turns out it was a 100 dollar fine because they couldn't reverse the (proof of) registration as a fixit ticket. Found out later though they actually gave me that money back a week or so later.

      speed lim·it
Noun: The maximum speed at which a vehicle may legally travel on a particular stretch of road.

      key word there is maximum...

      max·i·mum/ˈmaksəməm/
Noun: The greatest or highest amount possible or attained.
Adjective: As great, high, or intense as possible or permitted.

that said...i think everyone forgets that the country is in the shitter as far as money is concerned and will do anything to squeeze it out of the people that need it the most. welcome to the real world.

now get a radar or drive the damn speed limit. you should also realize that driving 5 mph faster is really not worth it when you consider the time savings. If you drove 65 mph for 1 hour exactly and someone else was following you driving 60, you would only be 5 miles ahead of them @60mph = roughy 5 min. the average commute to work or school is <20 miles, which means the time savings is around 1.5 min.

moral of the story...drive the speed limit, save yourself some money and enjoy the extra minute with your beautiful, loving E30.

You got your extra driving tax bill today. No more no less. Fight it and you will prolly have to pay the fines and court costs and take a after noon off from work to do so. But you will prolly not get any points on you license for it that route.

Just generating revenue for the state, county, and department thats all, have to fill those budget deficits some how. You gave them the excuse to pull you over so you really have no one to blame but your self.

WA troopers be profilin' homie. In OR 5mph is the legal threshold iirc, yet I've cruised through OSP radar at 75mph in a company vehicle with a loaded trailer in tow, and not even a look.

just fight it. use the written declaration way. that's a BS ticket, if you were going with the flow of traffic then you should be good. there are rules for lenience for 5mpg. remember the cop's job is to send you to the judge. that's where you will be innocent or guilty.

So anything under 100 mph, is 1mph

you were doing 65, in a zone that said the LIMIT is 60.

I usually drift at a constant rate of 70 mph on the highway and haven't been pulled over yet..

                        ;)

But OP that really does suck, people on here who are saying they don't go over the speedlimit are either the biggest hypocrites, or drive to slow. Lol

speedometers on factory cars are usually adjusted higher than actual speed not lower than actual speed. therefore your 2% theory is out the door. meaning the kids speedo was showing 70, we was clocked at 67 (your speedometer discrepancy) and the dick cop that wanted you to feel like he was doing you a favor for writing 65.

i have had a handful of cops write the exact number that the radar or laser showed and didnt adjust for shit. even had one give me a ticket based on pacing over a mile behind me, and trust me we got into an argument on how A. his car is exact or not B. how you can gauge if you are following someone a mile behind and they are going the exact same or faster speed.
