Lol, I meant with a broken oil pan.I'm gonna say the driving part is out of the question. I've driven my car with confidence and i've never had a hit like this, I went over it with my dad's 09 sentra and it still felt completely absurd.
I'll tell the story when I get a picture of the skid plate..Raceskids is hooking me up though so props to them.
Big props to e30lolz, we were toying around between my E30 and his E39 M5 and he gladly stopped and helped as much as he could. Great guy.1985 M10b18. 70maybewhpoffury. Over engineered S50b30 murica BBQ swap in progress.

I've always thought Race Skids plates were too thin. I mean, don't get me wrong, they make a very nice product, but whether it works as intended...
If I were to ever make a skid plate, it would be out of 1/4" steel plate. I would want it to be able to withstand hitting something big enough that it would lift the car up, not dent the plate in. And who cares if it weighs 50lbs? If it saves your oil pan even once, it would be worth it.Comment

now you know how useless raceskid plate is. good thing you didn't crack the upper pan like i did. PITA to replace.Comment

i dont understand you people knocking the SKID PLATE...by the name it implies it helps with skids? i've had lots of lowered cars though my e30 isnt slammed yet. But i can say i have never actually managed to get a car off the damn ground! that to me is not SKIDDING thats BASHING which requires a bash plate. That to me is what the hoop style peerless one is.
To me the skid plate is meant to rub and skid over things e.g. if i go up a sharp bank or quick up a driveway or down a small dip or over a speedbump or if i have passengers and the car is lower than usual. All of these issues have caused me to scrub my other lowered cars frame rails, exhausts, etc.
i cant believe you expect to be able to drive your car like crazy, launch it off a huge bump and then say 'oh its the skid plate'. if you didnt have the skid plate, you'd probably have killed your pan ages ago on something more minor. I come from a VIP car background so its more about low and slow and driving carefully. If you slam your car, you can't expect to not break stuff if you drive it hard imo.
I would love to get a peerless plate but the cost to get it to me here in australia is massive. so i will probably go for the raceskids one and just drive carefully...Comment
