Go for it! Just check the essentials. AAA is a great idea. I drive my 240k 325ix from Tacoma, WA to LA for bimmerfest every year and have never had a problem. Cooling system is the big thing to check before leaving but other then that e30s seem to like long road trips, in my opinion.89 325iX - stock but overflowing with factory extras

Get the AAA plus rv, it gives you towing up to 100 miles instead of the usual 5 miles. It's only a few bucks more and imho worth it.
Bring a small selection of tools (i keep a weather proof toolbox in my under hood battery tray at all times actually), hand air pump or air tank, one of those 5 qt jugs of oil and a couple gallons of water. Maybe a roll or two of gorilla tape and a blanket as well.
I take all that stuff when I go on roadtrips and haven't ever ended up stranded. have a safe trip!- Josh

Well, that or check yours before heading out....that'd be the wise thing to do.
The only time an E30 has let me down was when those carbon brushes wore themselves out.
