The WORST job on E30

the three top "bitch" bolts on the transmission were a pain in the ass, do it enough times and you get crazy quick with it though, still sucks.

I think the worst thing I've ever done on an E30 was changing the heater core, on my knees in the snow (this was before I had a garage).

Aside from that, I think it was changing the position of the cooling hoses on the firewall after my 24V swap, with the intake manifold still installed.

^^ on the m42, I just removed my upper/lower intake manifold (takes about 20 minutes) and had very easy access to all the tranny bolts.

Heater core is nothing (unless you have canadian spec / no ac car that requires cutting the fricking heater box or moving the steering column out of the way = another fucking epic fail). You seriously could do 5 heater core replacements or more vs 1 wiper mechanism .. It's that bad.

I fucking HATE COOLANT. More than any other automotive fluid. It might as well be piss to me. I hate the way it smells, feels, and tastes.

My floor was soaked in it, I was soaked in it, and it was 28° outside, on my knees in my driveway in the dark, trying to keep a flashlight in the right position so I could see what the fuck I was doing. The only thing worse than boiling hot coolant is nearly frozen coolant.

My buddy had a local non specialist shop do the wiper motor for his vert. We were both shocked when they only charged him $150. Wtf?

The wiper motor can be removed / replaced w/o doing the dash/heater box... but there is no way you can do the linkage itself though.

I love coolant. When it burns it smells like waffles.
Worst auto fluid to me is 80/90, or any gear oil really. ESPECIALLY if its old.

Heater cores are 15 minute jobs.

Worst job was clutch master cylinder so far . My brand new URO clutch master broke the day before gfest , had to make a good one out of two bad ones. Til 2:30 in the
Morning on my street. Then drove 4 hours to gfest the next day, which is why my car looked like a pile.

Ugh and I need to replace the wiper linkage in my car sometime in the semi near future since the splines on the linkage and the wiper arms are all sorts of chewed up.

Guess I'll see how long I can last w screwed up splines and Rain-X.
