This engine will be my E30 2.8 swap (Video included at bottom)

I've been palying around with my 'standard' E36 328iSE, which by now some of you may know already.

But those who don't here it is...I know your E30 nuts, but every so often an E36 take to your heart...so here is my daily:

Sunset in the Scottish Highlands my homeland...Breathtaking!

ANYWAY cut to why I posted the thread

I've had it over past 2 years and its really transformed. Well I've decided that I want to upgrade the E36 with an E46 S54 M3 engine and get it over 360bhp...which means deleting all the engine, running gear and exhaust, all parts are now surplus to requirements. So I'm doing two swaps (another) E30 2.8 and a E36 S54 sedan/saloon.

So I have been messing around with the engine in standard guise now since ownership, no ECU remap and no fancy cams or inlet maifold added from M50B25...and here is how fast and glorious my 145k mile engine is in my E36....sorry for crappy Nokia photograph from phone:

It only really has the chassis tightened with proper parts!

Here is the top speed of my M52 2.8...this picture was taken on a mildly bumpy section of Autobahn...on the GPRS we had 151mph (speedo indicated 155+mph) at VMax midday normal weather conditions.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiaVexI2IN0

0-60 is estmated at 5.5 seconds. My speedometer is VERY accurate, up to 100mph the needle is bang on the money.

I think its ready that my E36 sedan donates itself to my E30 swap project, and with this performance I think it'll be an animal. So barr needing a few other parts the E34 sump etc and a few other small bits, I have all the bits at home or in my garage to do the swap for free. I considered the S54 in the E30, but I would prefer it in my E36 as I use it alot more and do ALOT of driving on the Autobahn with it and the E30 will be more of a cruising through twisty country roads weekend car. I want best of both worlds and this is way of doing it :) I know some will say why break a stunning E36 or put the S54 ito my E30. Truth is I've always wanted my current 328 engine into an E30 from day one! This is the time it will happen (all going to plan).

    Comments welcomed ;)

I think you underestimate our utter indifference toward e36's except as parts cars.

I understand some argue that the E36 was bland or boring but after owning every version of the E36 (except the Euro 3.2 Evo M3 due to insurance) and most E30's, I can't decide which I prefer. I was born in the late late 80's so grew up with the E36 and the E30. My e36 isn't an ///M replica its my preference.

I just want best of both worlds! A ballistic e36 sleeper (that will eventually be turned into full race car) and a very fast E30.

          uh... i really doubt 0-60 in 5.5 seconds. you'd need about 250hp.

                  I like+.
Where in Scotland did you make those photos?
I was there in 2009, when it comes to landscapes its my favorite country from what I have seen in my life yet, just so beautiful and quiet in the highlands.
Until your E36 screams around the corner. :D

Scotland is amazing, those pictures were taken near to Dornoch (where Madonna and Guy Richie got married a decade ago) which is 5 miles away from where I was born. Empty scenary and twisty road optimise the BMW. I prefer driving the BMW over say a Subaru Impreza on these roads. The RWD comes into its own here!
