M3 firewall harness/cover re:m20 diagnostic port and relays

When I did my M3 covers with my M50 swap, the lengths and position of certain parts of the wiring harness wouldn't allow for positioning of the diag port in the stock location, so I located the X20 connector into that diag port bracket, and positioned the diag port over near the fuse box, I think it looks pretty decent.

I also have an m3 cover, I left the diagnostic out but the relay I managed to fit it was a total bitch. I tried to get the diagnostic back there but with the giant brake booster it wasn't having it. Any questions pm meLeave a comment:

I went to the van nuts meet 2 weeks ago on friday and saw you car there.
It was pretty dark but with the flash on I was surprised to see a bright yellow block
Ya moving those 2 components could help clean up your bay.

Thanks for the kudos.

Great thread, I was just thinking about this today. Want to do the same with my turbo car.
I think I'll email BMA with an order now.Leave a comment:

Just found this, hoping I can do something similar with a m30 swap. Do you have a part # for the firewall bracket, is it off a m42 car?
Since you put this much work in the rear wiring, I suspect a 318i radiator (ditch the overflow tank) and moving the coil are in order next.
yep maybe in the future.
i do like that look.Leave a comment:

Thanks
thanks
I was worried if I rewrapped it that the front cover would not clip on.Looks great! Keep up the awesome work, my only comment is keep in mind those zip ties will chaff if they're on too tight. Maybe use something with less of a sharp edge to keep everything tidy? To be honest I don't know if that's going to be an issue, just something I thought i'd mention.
When I install it I will wrap it then put new zipties.
Thanks.Leave a comment:

Got it done.

I bought the firewall bracket new and apexgoblin hooked me up with the large cover section used but for free I used it for mock up. Going to order the battery tray and firewall cover section new from the dealer.

I took the entire engine harness out, split the harnesses and mounted the relays and diagnostic port. Now I can cut the wires and re splice them in
Wrap the rest of the harness and reinstall it.Leave a comment:
