First of all, I know exactly how you feel. After last years (not this years) E30 picnic I had a lady in a raised Pathfinder pull out infront of me. It was one of those deals where I just watched her do it, and she watch me coming at her, but she didn't brake, didn't speed up, and due to other things I had no option but to brake. Hit her square in the middle at about 4mph, enough to shatter the entire front end of my car above the bumper. My bumper never made contact with her :hitler:



Interestingly enough, My car was totaled. I got about $2200 for my car, did all the repairs myself, am still living with a dinged up side panel, and bought myself a very nice entry level mountain bike with the change. So if you're serious, I do have some[year old] ideas :)


Edit: I bought my car back as well. Cost me $300. It was of course worth that just in parts.

Sorry to hear that, at least you can take those $$$ parts from it, get a nice stock e30 for $3000, then install all the goodies. Also you might be able to get some money back by parting out the one you have right now.

id recommend looking into using the check the insurance company gave you and buy the car back. Same thing just happened to my brothers e36 318is and he bought it back for 400$ and pocketed like 3k. Were stripping every good part off his now "old" car and in the process of shopping for his next e36 to throw his parts onto

First thought that went through my head was I'll buy it back, part it like all the other accident stories on here. But 1. I'm three hours away from my permanent residence, so that's out the question, 2. I have no room to do it, and 3. Since my parents are dealing with all this, they would't do it. Bummer because I had some nicer things in my car.

A decent entry level mountain bike? My personal recommendation is a Cannodale F5. A good step above a cheap entry level bike and can take a lot of abuse and still not break the bank.

Thanks man, I'll definitely look into it. I'm looking in the $500-600 price range, because bicycles do get stolen at school, so I'd like to lessen the investment if it were to get stolen, yet still be a good bike.

I just found a few notes I made back in the fall of 2010 (all prices are from that time period), when the 2011 bikes were coming out. I was originally looking at:
Cannondale F7 2010, going for $500.
Scott Aspect 55 2010, also going for $500

I ended up with a Scott Aspect 45 for $609. I love the bike. The locking front shock is great for times when I want to use it to bum around on public roads.
