    Whistle when downshifting

my car has always done this, say I'm pulling up to a red light it makes a whistle sound when I put it into first gear, does anyone elses car do this and what is it. my car runs great so its not a problem just curious what it is

It's the gear cluster spooling up (bearing noise) . If you put it into 1st while you are stopped it wont make that sound.

It is the sound of you unnecessarily wearing your first gear synchro. :p

Not a huge deal, but if you are going to shift into first gear at a red light, just wait until you're stopped.
