    VIN not recognizable??

WBAAB540969686242....you give it a shot, but I've checked a few sites now, and it doesn't recognize the number anywhere.
To be honest, I don't really care, because the car has been working okay for me (everything I expected, really) for the past 9 months since I bought it. This was just weird that nothing showed up...hmmm- illegal activity? The plot thickens..

That's not even a valid VIN number, digit 10 (year) is supposed to be a letter.

Edit: assuming you're talking about an E30.

+1 you are missing one letter.

That's only 15 digits? That doesn't reflect any car.

A standardized VIN number is 17 digits total. No more, no less.

Just noticed you're in Australia, if the car is originally from Australia it might be different. They didn't switch to the 17 character format until 1989.
