Wash it a lot, at least once a week. Undercarriage wash is very important.

Got a 91 wrangler that's been here (Chicago) all of its life and shows just a little surface rust in 3 places, frame and floors are solid. These things are usually rust buckets. Its a miracle. :-) I would never subject my e30 to a winter, unless its an IX. Drove an e36 318is on blizzacks one winter and got stuck so bad I ruined by diff. Never again will I drive RWD in winter. I know e30's don't got traction control either.

I've lived in indiana all 25 years of my life. I fucking hate winter. cleaning the car constantly does help. the best you can do is what you've already done. In winter weather limit the cars exposure to being outside as much as possible. I always park in the garage when I can. I also keep a car cover with me when I go to work. If I know it's gonna snow or if there is even a possibility I cover it. Takes an extra 2 minutes out of your day to put it on and take it off. totally worth when you can chuckle at the guy parked next to you using what's left of a broken ice scraper. You've done pretty much everything else you need to do. Only other thing id like to do is get a drain put in the garage so I can hose the car down at the end of a snowy, salty day. Oh, and winter tires rule. Fuck all seasons.

This thread reminds me of my need for a DD this winter.

Sounds like you are going to do a decent job of protecting it. I would refrain from doing it though, only if the car is eye candy. If its already a beater, have fun with it.

    one.

Buy a winter beater. Sadly, that's what my current E30 has been reduced to. But it's a damn good one.

It won't rust right away, but in 5 years you will def. be able to see it was. don't do it if the car really is nice, just ask euro3 on here about his old E30 M3 that he drove through 1 winter!!
