the hard top isnt that heavy maybe 40lbs.
it makes the car 80% quieter on the freeway over having the canvas top up.
the canvas top folds under the tonneau cover. and the hard top sits on top.
it has a ton more insinuation over the canvas top.
and best over all it doesn't leak in the rain.
    Much wow
    I hate 4 doors

That heavy huh? They do look good and I bet they do quiet down the ride. In regards to not leaking, isn't that a function of the seals?

Make sure the hardtop has good seals all around as they are expensive as hell to buy.

I'd love to replace my seals but unfortunately I think most parts are NLA.

            part #15 $577
            part #16 $129

I bought my top for about $450 with a shot headliner, sold it in a day for $750 and the new owner still got a great bargain.

Check your local dealer as I think they can order them. Prob looking at $1000 from the dealer fom what I have been told to replace all seals.

Bluntech may be able to source them also.

heavy time consuming to remove/really nice

I was amazed at how my vgc hardtop made my vert seem like a coupe. Scary. No leaks. Quiet. Sold it. Now am quite pissed to hear I could "compete" in some sort of ''track day". Tell me it is not so.free image

every post said above is true....makes it quiet, insulates, free from leaks if in good condish...

but then again if you have a garage and only drive in good weather...no point....

It's nice to have a bit of of security with a hartop. I own one despite never driving the car in the winter. I know that if I need my rear window relaced one day, or if I need the canvas replaced, I'll have the hardtop to throw on for the time being. Even if some moron decides to slash up the top for no good reason, at least I'll have something to throw on the car to keep it dry. Also, it seals so much better than my soft top. It's a must in the spring time when it rains more than anything, and they look so cool!

On a side note, I love to hear how they're rare in the States. They're everywhere up here. I don't know an e30 vert owner that doesn't own a hardtop! And I know a lot of e30 vert owners up here!

I once saw one at the junk yard in good shape and kept walking. In my opinion there a complete waste if you have a garage. If you want a coupe buy one.

Who doesn't like variety? You can have top down, top up, hard top up. Why not?

that's like walking past a set of Euro metal bumpers and saying they are a waste of time. rly dude if you dont own one you'll never know really how great they are in the winter.

I'd consider buying one just so I could track my car!! Thankfully I have a lot of spare room in my garage now, biggest reason I didn't get on before...
