    Extremely Loud Heater Fan

Started a couple weeks ago. Its starting to get cooler in the mornings and I need heat. The fan is extremely obnoxious. I'll take a video of it at some point, but anyone know what would cause this? It sounds like there is some sort of contact being made somewhere.

most likly the fins have come apart an now are hitting the inside of the housing, let me know if you need a new blower motor with good fins

Same thing is happening to me. I just picked up a new fan. Now I need to brave the elements and pull the interior apart.

My fan sounds like it is trying to cut itself out of the dashboard with a reciprocating saw. Obnoxious as hell. Might try to go to the junkyard and pull a new fan out this weekend. I can turn it on "1" without bother. If it goes to "2" its loud. "3" or above and you can't hear the person sitting next to you...

You don't take the interior apart to replace the blower motor, there is an access panel on the firewall.

Mine is just the oppisite, loud on the lower speeds but quite on hi. It also gets louder in a turn, wtf. In the warm weather when using the Ac, no noise at all. Only when the weather is cold out and using the heat. Got a luv these cars.

              the bearings are shot.

you need a new fan - mine was awful loud last winter, but I put up with it. it's actually fine during the summer. started making noise yesterday again. ugh. I'd actually forgotten about it until then.

also - at least on my late m20 car, replacing the fan was much, much harder than replacing the wiper motor. the clips on the cover are hard to get to and you can't see them, plus the motor itself doesn't really fit through the hole with the intake in the way. basically, I wouldn't waste my time putting in a used motor that could be bad too (which is what I did). I don't ever want to do it again, but I have to anyway.
