Camber plates are also thinner than the stock strut mounts so it will lower the car a little. -
Depending on the camber plates, it will only net you like 1/4 inch of travel and that's if you don't lower it. So camber plates will just let you lower it 1/4 inch more, but that's defeating the purpose of gaining that travel.Leave a comment:

The problem is i already have struts, but if i cut the housing it'll be too short. should i just buy camber plates?Leave a comment:

It's pretty low on uncut housings all the way down especially if you are using oversized tires. You won't have much wheel/fender gap but if you are using the right tire diameter there will be a slight gap like in the pictures. On a regular E30, definitely cut the housings the struts aren't anything special and are easily found. M3 struts on the other hand... = / well the decision isn't so easy.Leave a comment:

really?? on unmodified strut housings?
I already bought bilstein shocks.........I don't want to have to get new shocks if i shorten my strut housings.
dammit..should I just buy camber plates so i can have a thinner strut mount and thus, moar low?Leave a comment:

I have mine about halfway down adn I got like 2.5" to M50 oil pan, And I am on 16x8 with 225/45s, on the stock bottle caps if I tried to drop it all the way down I am scared I would be on the ground.Leave a comment:

Like said before, the ride is much better lifted up, but it's manageable bottomed out, not terrible. The rear is up a bit, but the front is all the way down:

If you want to be this low (or lower) I'd definitely cut the struts. I always wanted to when I was riding at this height.Leave a comment:

Definitely cut the housings. Here is a post from my e34 build where I struggled with this same decision. Shows before and after cutting housings
