If we are strictly talking about BMW owners. BY FAR 18-22 yr old e92 335i crowd is giving BMW owners a bad name. They tend to act like they are baddest fckrs around because they got their parents to buy them a new BMW. The older guys are pretty cool at least in my area but the young teens are just ridiculous.
Then there are the 22"+ preownd 7 series crowd out here.

I live in SW Florida.. (Lof8, care to chime in?) near Sarasota..
We have some very rich/wealthy people that want to live here because it is very beautiful. Weather is always nice, some of the best beaches you can find in the US, and the economy is still thriving. So it's fair to say that we have some very very nice cars around here.. on a daily basis in Sarasota you will see Ferrari's being DD'd, Bentley's, almost every Mercedes is AMG, Lambo's.. you name it, it's in or around this area.
With that said.. I consider myself to have some nice e30's.. they look clean, not "in-your-face drift emblem hanging off the back" type of e30 or anything.. I have never.. not ONCE in the last 2 years of ownership got a compliment on my car from anyone out in public. Not one. I have received more comments on my dirty, unkept 81' Yamaha motorcycle than I have my "keep-it-spotless" e30..
So, I am not sure what to say about this.. I try and compliment nice cars when I see them.. I told some rich looking yuppie that his brand new Audi A8 looked awesome, and you know what.. he smiled and said thanks "I love it."
Maybe people automatically assume that I am one of those BMW yuppies? I certainly don't walk around like my shit doesn't stink and I don't park in 2 spots or any bullshit like that.
I honestly think that it is our culture. We don't want to compliment other's nice things because we have this preconceived notion that they are dickheads because they own something. So we look at their car.. we may love it, we may hate it.. but we always act indifferent, don't we?
Seriously.. try it.. next time you see some young kid get out of his SRT-4 or cammed Mustang say "Hey, that's pretty cool. How much power are you making? What mods have you done?" and you will see that you share a lot of common interests with these "camps."

But ive gotten so much hate on this forum and bimmerforums just for not having a lot of money, or not having any mechanic experience, trying to take my time with my car and just do me. Yea i should take ppl's smart ass comments less serious but Im the kind of person who values respect and not being fake. I cant believe people actually talk to peoples face as they do when hiding behind their monitor. Its often disrespectful and snobby. Im not trying to build some 5,000 dollar track monster just to enjoy sliding my car around. which happens to be a bmw
Lets hate less and just share an interest while helping each other out!m20 is plenty. im simply a drifter.
