Hey all. I've got a '90 325is with as much Ireland engineering suspension as any car could hope to have thrown at it and a MAF airbox kit from Castro's customs. I love this car. Or more specifically, I love the way the car looks and drives. I hate this car. Or more specifically I hate how it's constantly needing to go to the shop for little stuff like gauges that stop working, squeaks, little stuff breaking all the time as it's prone to do on a 20+ year old car. Also my wife has no love for this car. So she suggested I sell it and buy a newer car.
I recently bought a 2004 VW R32 with a supercharger kit on it. AWD and 300+ hp should really be enough for me to forget my e30 but I'm really really having a hard time. The R32 is a rocket ship but it's a HEAVY rocket and the AWD sticks but too well; I like a little tail happiness. 6spd trans sounds great but it's one more gear to deal with and difficult to recalibrate my mind to after 20 years of 5 speed driving. And all the drive by wire shit must be there for some reason but it leaves the throttle pedal feeling very disconnected and artificial.
So now I'm thinking of just selling my VW, keeping my BMW to drive as fun and buying a prius (for the fuel mileage) or maybe a small truck (for the utility) as a commuter that I don't have to think much about. Am I crazy? Yes. Am I crazy for selling the VW and keeping the beemer? Your thoughts please.
