Just a bit more info about my situation. We also have a 2010 VW Golf TDI which is an auto with the paddle BS. It's reasonably sporty and it's the car the wifey drives. So MPG is not the end all be all. In fact the whole reason for getting another car was so that I could drive the 40ish mpg golf to and from work while my wife drove my car. And that's where we ran into problems, she hates to drive the E30 (it's got race suspension on it so I can't blame her for not finding it to be a comfy ride). I SHOULD have bought a used Tacoma xtra cab that she was willing to drive and kept the E30. She hates the E30 also because I bought it without talking to her about it at all and I've spent a bunch of $ on it. She says stuff like "your girlfriend pissed all over the driveway again" when the power steering fluid leaks. haha.

I think I need to cut my losses and sell the R32 (might lose a grand on it) and buy the used truck like I planned to do in the first place.

Thanks again for the real advice.

I say sell the R and get the pickup. My daily is a Tundra and although it's no where near as much fun to drive as my ix it's so much more useful. Going to home depot or even just taking stiff to the DPW. If you keep the e30 and get a truck you have the best of both worlds.
