Do you mean the styling? I kind of like the E32 better in that regard. They look really good on springs, nice wheels and so on. That said, the M5 is in another league when it comes to fun, and they can look very nice. An E32 would have to work hard to compare to this (my E34 M5 I sold about 12 years ago):

Simple put E34 is just more comfy than E30. It is not as fun to drive/toss around as an E30 of course.

But E30 is not as nice as an E34 for longer drives. E34 is not as noisy, and it feels more solid than an E30.

They are two different cars, both have pros/cons.

And I think E34 looks FAR better than ANY E32.... E38 on the other hand is way better looking than E32. E39s have WAY more crap in them to go wrong vs. E34...maybe thats why some people pick E34 over E39..

E39 is even nicer than the E34, both can be quick, both come with v8s and M engines (unlike 7 series, and don't even start on the M70 v12 , a total junk of an engine) lol.

E34 and E39 make awesome daily drivers, pick one that you like is what I would say. If you need something even bigger, than E38. But many of e38/e39 cars and even E34/E32 cars out there were not maintained, and obviously the E38 most of the time is V8 = expensive maintenance.

Do some research and you'll learn more ;)

I would avoid early E34 cars with M20 engines = crap.
Also avoid V8 cars unless you are ready to maintain them, same with M5. Something like a 525i with M50V or 535i (if you don't care about poor mpg) is the way to go imho with e34. With e39, I think the best one to have is the 530i/5speed inline 6....not the same as 530i v8 3.0liter used in e34s (total crap).

I keep my e30 for fun and my e34 525i/5 for dd/brother has an e39 540i6speed m-sport that loves to demand $ for it's maintenance.

I just like how E34 looks over E39, so I picked it for that reason alone and they don't require many special tooks like newer cars so I can still maintain them w/o much effort.
