that is an onboard camera i think. GM as well as other automakers will be using these to record 30 seconds before a crash. At least thats what I heard. Also there may be a driver facing camera as well in the near future.

Ridiculous. I can't handle a car that spies on me like that

Try it out! find a road with well-marked lanes; let the car drift out of the lane. Should give you a audible warning and/or vibration (not sure exactly why type of system they use for alerting driver) when you are getting close to the line.


Speed / auto-cruise / auto-braking systems are radar based and normally in the grill/front bumper area.
