Craigslist score: brand new Alpina BBK

big thanks to vpilarrt for posting this. this guy was 5 miles from my house.

absolutely BRAND NEW calipers, brake pads, and rotors. and man.. these rotors are hefty. they are original stamped alpina too. not the aftermarket ones you can find on 300mm.de, they almost seem too rare and expensive to run. i might just buy aftermarket ones. they have fully vented centers. the calipers are huge. and he even threw in a set of brand new ss brake lines for free. i didnt even ask for them and he didnt say anything about them in the for sale ad. just was like, "here you go."

pictures dont do it justice. you have to see this in person to truly appreciate them.

he also has the adjustable sway bar, and a full timing belt kit, pump, belt, tensioner he'd sell for $125. i just did the belt on both my e30s and the sway bar doesnt fit my ixs so i passed. if you're interested i'll pm you his number.

1+ you can run the massive setup in your 15" and Sharky can add some flare to his tribute!
The massive setup is MORE than you paid for that Alpina setup. Win win

There was an alpina IX and also I ran a bbk on my ix for a bit. The brakes are the same as reg e30's. The only thing that is different is that the brake lines are longer on for the IX. If you're lowered the reg e30 ones are fine.

The rear brakes however are different.

ooo i should start my own alpina tribute! :O

how are the rear brakes on the ix any different? they look the same. and yes, the massive set up is a lot more than $700, but this price was a crazy steal.

That is really cool for the novelty, but I would trust a fixed-piston setup like a Massive, IE or UUC kit more.

The rotors don't look THAT much bigger than the stock ones, but the calipers are pretty massive. How big are the rotors?

Don't think you can really make 16's with 15" centers using original parts.
There are 12.25" 13" centers for the different diameter wheels.
17's with 16" centers yes. 16's with 15" faces no.

I think you are wrong on this. Pretty sure the instars are the same between 15s and 16s (though I do not remember which specific RSs I am referring to).

I'm not 100 percent sure but that's pretty much what i think I know. :D
Some 17's do use the same 16" center but as far as I know no 15's and 16's share the same size center.

I have both and everything is much bigger on the 16's compared to the 15's.

                              ^ hhaha.

teaguer, that's not correct. 15 and 16s share the same center. 17s use a different center.

the rotors are quite a bit bigger. in person its quite the comparison. they look to be 292x25mm. quickly measured, didnt use a caliper. oem brakes are 260x22.
