    Hill Climb

Does anyone on R3V take part in hill climb events? I am very interested in taking part in these events in the future, and would like some more information on how to get started. I want to gear my 2002 towards entering as a modified road car in a 2600cc category.
Any websites that have good information on hill schools/events, and the different car classes and rules? I looked through the SCCA sight but could not find anything definitive.
Any pointers or tips are appreciated!

    Cheers!

When I do Google searches all I get are UK sites. No help? Auto cross rules and info is easy to find.

I think I recently saw a hill climb video in the media section of a member and his E30. Try to find it an pop him a pm.

*Edit - Checked the media section and couldn't find the video, it is probably somewhere else on the forum. I do know that it was recently posted, within the past month. Anyone else know the video?

There is a set of hillclimbs that run here in PA. I work at one and take pics.

Hillclimbs fall under the Time Trial rules (formerly Solo I). Classing is usually a mix of GCR and Auto-x classes, with safety addendums to the auto-x classes. Some classes require a full cage, some allow a cross-braced roll-bar. The latter may have changed to requiring a full cage in all classes, but as far as I know, it hasn't yet.

Time trail rules are a sub-set of the GCR:

Events are usually listed in Sportscar as either HC or TT.

Some additional discussion can be found here:

While specific to Pennsylvania, the group pretty much adheres to the SCCA TT rules. One current discussion is about the fact there are so many classes as even at a well attended event (100+ cars) actual class numbers are often small.

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

Now you just have to focus on finding events on the west coast!
