ya'll should try driving a FWD hot hatch sometimes. i bet it wouldn't offend you.

that said, i'm saddened for some reason by a FWD bmw, but it's not like it is their corporate MO to only offer RWD vehicles. they just simply haven't jumped into the FWD realm yet.

the only problem i see with this car is it will have to be price-engineered to compete with the excellent japanese and korean offerings, or else it'll be like the goodwood edition Mini.. a rip-off small car with very little to offer but 'prestige'. actually, they can't win either way.. the sub 25K price-point will result in what is likely to be another bmw we all want to forget (cough 318ti cough).

guess you haven't been to europe have you? compacts are EVERYWHERE here, and the hatch 1 series (e81/e87) sell way better than the e82 over here.

Generally I agree, but man, with the internet connecting enthusiasts, so much gets sussed out to keep cars on the road sort of economically. It's amazing what resourceful people pull off. As for me, I'll probably keep messing with '80s BMWs, maybe dabble with old Porsches. Cheap, easy, fun, cool. The modern cars will probably come and go from my garage.
