    Core support questions

is the core support the same on all e30s? Ix also?
    Early and late model?
Also should I have a body shop spot weld it or should i not worry about the frame moving once I take the old one off and spot weld it myself?

All are the same from what I have been told. Won't move the frame if you're concerned with that and it's easy to swap if you can spot weld. Will save you some cash. Body shops charge around 150-200 to replace it.

No, there are at least 3 different core supports that I know of. There's the early 84-85 style, 86-87 style w/provisions for oil cooler, 88+ different style oil cooler+???? I doubt the iX support would be different but it wouldn't hurt to check PN's on RealOEM to be sure. They will all work but they are not identical. There are some exceptions as well...diving board verts and all M3's used the 86-87 style support mainly because of the early style oil cooler I believe.
