E30 subframes suck. If you're going to lower an e30 severly you should reinforce the subframe engine mount area with welds or that piece AKG sells. I learned my lesson when my passenger side cracked and tipped my drivetrain a few degrees. My oil pan sat on my skidplate..

I think this qualifies for uninsured motorist on your plan if you have it.
If you want to go severly low, do it properly with shortened housings and refresh eveything. No point if gambeling with the area that "holds" your car up.

      Good luck to ya Warren!

Are you or do you know a competent welder? That whole area looks like it underwent a fair amount of deformation/stretching on its way to freedom.

If you really want to save the chassis i would thoroughly inspect the rest of the car for impending structural issues and if it passes i would cut that whole area out of a solid junk car, make an alignment jig off your car if possible or another car if you have to. Then trim the part to the optimal shape, cut your car to receive it and weld it in.

Then replace all your suspension bushings/joint,etc and go get the alignment checked to see if it was done right.

Best of Luck, sorry i laughed earlier.

Doesn't matter since he mentioned he had no travel.

Replacing rubber for solid makes life very difficult for all components involved. Lots of fatigue all around.

As they say anything can be fixed but how much money do you have and what skills do you have?

Makes me worried now I have just replace all my bushes with AKG stuff. Though I only runny billie sports and h&R sports so hopefully that will lessen the wear and tear.

scary, after I went to race suspension I noticed a ton of creaking and popping sounds when pulling onto steep off camber driveways, hope its not my subframe going out.

I doubt it. He had no travel, so basically all of the force impending onto the subframe was going directly to his three subframe mounts. The diff and the two corners. I would be willing to bet that the when the mount gave way, the spring that was under pressure launched the subframe to the ground, and that was what split it in half.

I'm also willing to bet that the opposite sides chassis structure has bent a little bit now. Worangejuice, Check the other side when you can and see if there's any wavy metal under the back seat next to the mount to indicate that it has warped or shifted. Check underneath too.

Now, I'm not going to go fuck my face JUST because I said I'm not surprised. Because I DID offer a relevant answer with my original response too. I did have a certain amount of sympathy. You've never pissed me off, and the only thing I have against you is your ridiculous stretch and super low car. but that's not going to make me be "BAH BAH BAH YOU DESERVE IT BAH BAH PENIS!". Because nobody deserves that kind of shit to happen.

                        BUT!

I, personally, wouldn't even bother with fixing it. That is a catastrophic failure not unlike a broken frame. You could get it repaired, sure. But the likelihood of it being exactly even is going to be very difficult. The person who said that the best option was to get the metal from a solid junk car, and to jig it up and weld the whole new section in place hit it on the head. And You'll probably have to do it to both sides.

Yeah, I called my insurance, but no luck. I will do this on my next lowered 20+ car :)
Thanks again for the kind words!

Hey its cool man, so much stress right now!!! It is kinda funny/cool 'sucks to roll hard' shit I can laugh at later, but for now FML!
I know no welders in my area. Kind of a weird hassle/fix now I have to talk to people about.

Yeah I always had the creaking on driveways and such. There was a rattle like a slight shimmy on that exact side before, but nothing visual.
So EVERYONE, get under your car and do 'self testing' ahah. We are not used to the car cancer on the west coast here.

ugghhhhhh, hard to even think of where I need to get it towed? My house would mean tow it somewhere else. Any random shop will be like "$3000" and the 'fuck off'. Such an odd job right now.
